Gentle Reminders
The Lord Sustains Me
The Lord sustains me. Sustains. Meaning “to uphold”; “to support”; “to stand fast”; “to lean/lie hard”.
It’s like when my dad’s driving and I’m in the passenger seat. Whenever he has to slam on his break, for whatever reason, he stretches his arm out in front of me to keep me in place. To protect me. He’d much rather have his arm take a hard hit during an accident than have anything happen to me. So he stretches out his arm and shields me, because he loves me.
When your heavenly Father stretches out His arm, nothing will thwart His protection and provision. There may be storms; there may be car wrecks, grief, extra stress at work, any number of things that will try to steal your peace. But even through the storms, even amidst the fierce wind blowing, God is leaning in and holding you safely in the palms of His hands. You won’t blow out from His grasp. I promise. No matter how hard the circumstance–no matter how exhausted you may become–The Lord is with you, and He sustains you.
Today, I’m grateful He opened my eyes this morning. He guided me safely to the gym, and I had a great workout. He guided me safely to work, and it’s been a productive day. The day isn’t over, but no matter what the day brings, the Lord is good. He is seated on His throne–the King of all Kings.
Thank You, Father, for sustaining me…for hearing my prayers and answering me from Your holy hill. You are a shield around me. Blessed be Your precious name!
