Gentle Reminders

Choose to Trust God

Dear Friend,

What is holding you back from placing your full trust in God? Is it fear of the circumstances? Is it fear of someone’s rejection or mockery? Is it bitterness that has taken root, making it hard to let go? Is it anger toward God from something He’s allowed to happen in your life?

Yes, struggles are hard. Pain and grief are hard. Sometimes getting out of bed can be excruciatingly hard. But God is greater. Mightier than any storm, any valley, any pit. In control of every situation. Above all those who scorn Him and scorn you for loving and following Him.

If your heart belongs to Him, there is nothing that will ever snatch you from His loving hand. There will ALWAYS be mercy, new every morning, in store just for you. And He PROMISES to work out ALL things for good in your life. ALL things. Even the horrible things that happen, God can and will bring good out of it in whatever way He chooses. He is the only One who creates beauty from ashes. And He wants to do that for you. Because He loves you. Because He is God. Because He is good.

If you are His child, believe that you are His son or daughter. Understand that you are safe in Christ. In Annie F. Downs’s book 100 Days to Brave, it says, “You are released to believe that you are who He says you are. That the Bible is true. That you are deeply loved no matter what. Will you be brave enough to believe Him? Believing truth is always a choice.”

We have the choice to either trust in God or trust in man. To trust in Truth or believe in lies.

In Isaiah 7, God tells Ahaz to:

-Take care

-Be calm

-Have no fear

-Do not be fainthearted.

WHY? Because God promised Ahaz that the enemy would not prevail.

That was in the Old Testament. Well, now we have the New Testament. Christ came; He died; He rose from the grave. And guess what? The enemy did not prevail. Death is defeated. The battle is already won. If you are God’s warrior, you are on the winning side. No doubt about it.

So take care. Be calm. Have no fear. Do not be fainthearted. For God has won.

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).

God warns Ahaz in verse 9, “If you will not believe, you surely shall not last.”

Ahaz did not place his faith in God. But we have the choice to trust in the One who never fails.

The best choice is to trust! I pray you choose faith over fear today.
