Jesus Tasted Death

Jesus tasted death for everyone.

For every person standing before the cross, watching Him suffer.

For the soldiers who nailed down His hands and feet.

For the thieves, murderers, and perverse hearts.

For the Jews and Gentiles.

For every tribe, tongue, and nation.

For those who delight in torturing and killing Christians.

For those who run to toxic pleasures instead of to Him.

For every baby who hasn’t been born yet.

For those who have failed as parents, as friends, and as partners.

For those who shake their fists at God.

For those who call wrong right and call right wrong.

For those who skip down the wide road of destruction.

For those who trample on each other with hateful words and actions.

For sinners.

For you.

For me.

Jesus tasted death for everyone,

So He could bring many sons to glory.

Sons, who do not deserve to be called sons.

Daughters, who do not deserve to be called daughters.

Yet He adopts the surrendered hearts,

And He is not ashamed to call them His own.

Do you see Him nailed to that cross,

Tasting the death of billions of sinners?

Yet He has risen!

Jesus tasted death, and death was conquered.

Do you see the empty grave?

Rise up and rejoice!

He sits at the right hand of the throne of God

And beckons you to surrender your heart

In exchange for Life.

Jesus tasted death,

So you could taste Life.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.” -Hebrews 2:9-11
